Sparks effect

An old clip but a goody -- unquestionably one of the world's scariest electric railways:


Shot in 1995 at a Romanian lignite mine (no, I don't know what lignite is, either). Clearly EU Health & Safety regulations had some way to go before penetrating as far as this facility.

Lignite is "brown coal" - a form of coal where the wood has not been compressed to the hardness of black coal. Tends to burn tarry and dirty, so regarded as inferior

That is just unbelievable!!! I never knew there was such a thing as a human pantograph!?
The points system also made me giggle. I do hope there isn't too much power in those wires!
Puts it into perspective how very privileged we all are really!!
