Coming and going

I've been at sixes and sevens all day -- one minute full of passionate energy and horny libido...

The next all calm and meditative and resty...

Er... well, maybe that picture wasn't quite right, but you get the idea... all at sea, no sense of direction, etc, etc.

At times like this, there's only one cure:

The quiet contemplation of images of some lovely trains in British Rail's glorious Rail Blue livery. Like this Class 313, an electric suburban unit based on BR's "PEP" prototype:

You see...? All seems calm and quiet and well with the world now, doesn't it? And surely at least a small part of that is as a result of realising that there are trains whose destination blinds read "Thorpe-le-Soken".

Your signs to the A1 reminded me of a trip to France in the 1980s. In the centre of Calais we found two signs. One said Toutes Directions; the other, Autres Directions. Both pointed the same way.

Cartesian logic, of course!

The Thorpe Le Soken blind is interesting because I didn't know the 313s ever worked out on the branches of the GEML.
I think off all BRs EMUs they probably worked in the widest and most varied locations.

I'm sure I've banged on before about my favourite roadsign -- a route confirmation board as you head east on a major trans-Pennine road (possibly the A66), approaching the A1. The board reads:

--------------

A66

The NORTH
The SOUTH
Pontefract

---------------

How cool is that?
