Seeing ourselves as others...

Satirical cartography now, with stereotypical views mapped to devastating effect. First up, Europe as perceived by Britain (everything benefits from clicking to enlarge):

Germany gets beaten up next:

Now for a more personal perspective: Berlusconi's view of Europe (which strikes me as being likely similar to the views of my lovely Italian friend F.):

The Americans are, obviously, easy prey, so here's their view of Asia:

It's not just the rich world that stereotypes. Here's Turkey's view of Europe:

And I include Poland's view because I love the pithy summary of Britain from their perspective:

It's not just nationalities or individuals who stereotype. Here's what gay men think about Europe:

And to finish something a little different -- penis size as reported by a "sample" in each country:

I should explain for my US readers that the measurements shown are in centimetres, not inches.

This was a lot of fun, Le Duc! I'll be coming back to this again and again. Thanks!

Brilliant! Characteristically modest of us Brits when it comes to penis size don't you think?

No need to return here when you could go direct to the source of these and other brilliant stereotype maps:

Who says cartography has to be boring or staid? Thanks for sharing!
