Because there aren't enough cute dog pictures on the web

I love this shot. I've always wanted a Jack Russell (or, as I think we're now supposed to call them, "Parson Russell". No, I have no idea why, either).

There's something about a very macho small dog that's a bit like a very cocky short man. I adore them both (and want to ruffle their hair).

That is in no way shape or form cute!
I hate those little ratting dogs! They are the most evil tempered and irrationally snappy of any canine breed! Yuk yuk yuk! Take it away! (I like dogs by the way, just not those).

you are not the only one to love them! I have been thinking of getting one for ages. Let's do it. It can commute between our two houses on a personalised black cab.

If you're serious (not about the black cab, obviously), let's do it.

The only thing holding me back is that occasionally I have to go away, and it doesn't seem fair to shove the dog into kennels. With a time-share arrangement, the doggy is always at home. Genius. And it leads to a happy dog.

Er... what does Lady V think...?

My old dog used to love kennels, it was a 5* stay in excellent company in his opinion and the staff couldn't be kinder. I'm about to acquire a puppy and shall make sure (s)he's well socialised from an early age... it will be a small dog, but smart in both senses: I'm not usually too keen on terriers. BTW a Parson Russell is a long-legged version of the normal variety - I'm not sure either is yet KC recognised

Jack Russell was a clergyman. The "variety" of dog he bred (or perhaps popularised) has never been established as a distinct "breed" (ask The Kennel Club why not; it's all too esoteric for me). "Parson Russells" so far as I can discover are an attempt to produce a strain which will/may be recognised as a breed.
Or something like that.
They are working dogs, not pets. You might or might not get a gentle-tempered one, therefore.
