Only connect

No real reason for posting this now, other than the tenuous link that the current "Doctor" (the pretty Matt Smith) is this weekend appearing as Christopher Isherwood in a BBC dramatisation.

That is unquestionably the best version of Ron Grainer's iconic theme, realised by the geniuses in the Radiophonic Workshop. "Haunting" doesn't begin to describe it.

Oh, alright. Here are some captures of hotty Matt and, er, chum(s) in Gay Heaven:

No idea what the drama is like since I haven't seen it.

Though, obviously, being a professional homosexual I read Isherwood's two Berlin books a looong time ago.

And I can sing along to most of the songs from Cabaret, obviously.

Yeah, let's draw a veil over that, at least until one of us has actually seen Christopher and His Kind.

In contrast, today's Guardian gives it a rave review:

"What Christopher and His Kind does do as well as Cabaret did in 1972 is to capture a place and a time -- an extraordinary place... And set against that ominous backdrop is a tender, touching, personal story of self-discovery. Brilliant, top drama, well done."
